The Mooroopna site has been in the Hall and Harding families since the turn of the 20th Century. Ian Hall, born in Ardmona in 1931, began farming the existing orchard owned by his parents in the 1950’s, growing fruit for the Ardmona Fruit Canning facility, and the domestic market.
With the help of his wife Jeanette, and their 4 children, they expanded into export, cold storage, and the fruit retail market, with orchards in Mooroopna, Ardmona, and Toolamba. By the 1980’s, Ian Hall was one of the largest suppliers of apricots for canning in Australia.
In 1988 their eldest son Mark Hall, shifted the focus of the business, increasing the Cold Storage capacity, and providing Export Cold Storage services to other exporters.
Today, under the direction of Mark, Valley Pack is one of Southern Australia’s largest fruit export load out and treatment facilities.
